Hoda established the Appropriate Technology unit in Varanasi and later the Appropriate Technology Development Association in Lucknow. He emphasized the idea of 'Production by masses' rather than mass production, promoting self-reliance and skills development in impoverished communities. Hoda also contributed to establishing the Gandhi Foundation and the Schumacher Institute, focusing on education and entrepreneurial skills for women.
