Manohar Parrikar was an Indian politician and a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as the Chief Minister of Goa from March 17, 2017, until his death on March 17, 2019. He had previously held the same position from 2000 to 2005 and from 2012 to 2014. In 2013, he proposed Narendra Modi as the prime ministerial candidate during a BJP election rally in Goa. From 2014 to 2017, he served as India's Defence Minister. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh. Parrikar passed away due to cancer.
