Mani Shankar Mukherjee, born on December 7, 1933, is an Indian Bengali writer, known by his original name Manishankar Mukhopadhyay. He published his first book in 1955, and his notable works include 'Chowronghee', 'Seemabaddha', and 'Janokaranya', all of which have been adapted into films. In 2016, he was awarded an honorary D.Litt by North Bengal University.
