Manai Sophiaan (1915-2003) was an influential Indonesian politician, journalist, and diplomat. Originating from South Sulawesi, he initially worked as a journalist and teacher before joining the Indonesian National Party. He was a key figure in parliament, notably triggering the 17 October affair in 1952. Additionally, he served briefly as the chief editor for the PNI's newspaper, Suluh Indonesia, and later held the position of Indonesia's ambassador to the Soviet Union until Sukarno's fall.
