Mammad Araz was an influential Azerbaijani poet, translator, and publicist born on October 14, 1933, in Nursu, Nakhchivan MSSR. He became a member of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union in 1957 and was honored as a People's Poet of Azerbaijan in 1991. Araz was also a laureate of the 'Independence' order, recognized for his contributions to Azerbaijani literature and culture. His work continues to be celebrated in Azerbaijan.
