She was a prominent advocate for the preservation of African roots and fought for religious freedom, women's rights, and the rights of Black people. Valdina held the title 'Makota,' recognizing her as a direct assistant to the Mother of Santo in the Candomblé Terreiro Tanuri Junçara. She passed away on March 19, 2019.
