Maire Eva Johanna Gullichsen was a Finnish art collector and patron, born on June 24, 1907, in Porin maalaiskunta. She co-founded the Artek furniture company and established the Free Art School in Helsinki. Gullichsen, who came from a wealthy business family, supported modern art and architecture. One of her notable contributions was the Villa Mairea, designed by Alvar Aalto for her and her husband in 1938. Her art collection became the foundation of the Pori Art Museum, which opened in 1979, fulfilling her vision of an art museum in Pori.
