Magda Casamitjana i Aguilà is a Catalan politician born on January 27, 1963, in Barcelona, with a background in philology. She has served as a councilor and mayor of Roses, as well as a deputy in the Girona Provincial Council and the Parliament of Catalonia. A graduate in Catalan Philology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, she has also worked as a teacher and in educational roles. In 2012, she founded Nova Esquerra Catalana and later led the Moviment d'Esquerres. As of 2018, she is the Director of the National Pact for Mental Health in Catalonia.
