Maenoyama Tarō was a prominent Japanese sumo wrestler, originally named Kazuichi Kaneshima, born on March 9, 1945, in Osaka Prefecture. He began his professional career in sumo in 1961 and climbed to the top makuuchi division by 1966. Achieving the rank of ōzeki, he held this position from 1970 until his retirement in 1974. Following his wrestling career, he became the head coach of the Takadagawa stable, a role he maintained until leaving the Sumo Association in 2010 when he turned 65. He passed away on March 11, 2021.
