Machteld Rijsdorp is a Dutch politician from the VVD party, born on August 28, 1946. After her education at the social academy in The Hague, she worked in the welfare sector and became a city council member in Oosterhout in 1978. She served as a councilor from 1987 for three years, then worked as a sector director in several municipalities. In 2000, she became general director of a large welfare and care institution in Limburg, and in 2005, she was appointed mayor of Goirle, where she became the oldest crown-appointed mayor in the Netherlands in 2016.
