M. Rosalind Morris was a pioneering professor of plant cytogenetics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1947 to 1990. She was among the first women to earn a PhD in genetics and plant breeding from Cornell University and the first female faculty member in her department at UNL. Her groundbreaking research on "misbehaving chromosomes" in wheat cytogenetics gained international recognition. Morris served as president of the Nebraska Academy of Sciences in 1980 and received prestigious fellowships from the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Guggenheim Fellowship.
