M. David Egger is an American physician known for his work in neuroanatomy and contributions to optics. He graduated from Stanford University in 1958 and earned his medical degree from Yale University in 1960. He has held academic positions at Yale and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he became a professor. Egger contributed to the development of the confocal laser microscope and received the R. W. Wood Prize in 2000 for his work in confocal microscopy. He is a fellow of multiple scientific societies.
