Lydia Fernández was a prominent Mexican singer born on July 4, 1917. She began her career in the 1930s and was notable for being the first female performer of songs by composer Gonzalo Curiel. She was a pioneer in the Mexican bolero genre and introduced many of Curiel's songs, such as 'Caminos de ayer' and 'Si supieras.' Fernández's career included performances on radio, stage, and nightclubs, and she was affectionately dubbed 'La Cancionera de México' by actor Arturo de Córdova.
