Ludwik Janczyszyn was a Polish admiral, politician, and diplomat, born on May 11, 1923, in Krasne, Tarnopol Voivodeship, now Ukraine. He served as the commander of the Polish People's Navy from 1969 to 1986 and was the first naval officer to be promoted to admiral in the history of the Polish Navy. He held the longest tenure as the naval commander and later served as an ambassador to Syria and Jordan. He passed away on July 27, 1994, in Gdynia.
