He is best known for inventing the 'Sig Alert' system for traffic reporting in Los Angeles, earning him the title 'father of L.A. traffic reporting.' Sigmon served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received many honors throughout his career. He maintained his amateur radio license after retirement and lived in Oklahoma until his death from Parkinson's disease.
