Louis Charles Gillis Sr., also known as 'Sea Boy', was an American catcher in the Negro leagues, active from 1946 to 1952. He was born on August 8, 1924, in Birmingham, Alabama, and served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. Gillis began his baseball career with the Atlanta Black Crackers before playing for the Birmingham Black Barons. He passed away on February 3, 2005, in Birmingham at the age of 80.
