Louie Simmons was an influential American powerlifter and strength coach, recognized for his contributions spanning over fifty years in the field. He founded Westside Barbell and was a pioneer in developing various training methods, notably the Conjugate Method. Simmons also invented specialized training equipment such as reverse hyper-extensions and belt squat machines. His significant impact on the US powerlifting community earned him the title of the 'Godfather of Powerlifting'. He passed away on March 24, 2022.
