Lothar Gerhard Mosler was a German historian born on March 2, 1913, in Ziegenhals and passed away on November 28, 1995. He served as the director of the Franz Mehring Institute at the Karl Marx University of Leipzig from 1953 to 1961. Mosler earned his doctorate in 1958 with a dissertation focused on the Hamburg dock workers' strike of 1896/97. After this, he taught the history of the German labor movement at Karl Marx University until his retirement in 1978.
