Lonnie C. King Jr. was an American civil rights leader born on August 30, 1936, who played a pivotal role in the Atlanta Student Movement starting in 1960. He authored the 'Appeal for Human Rights' and founded the Committee on Appeal for Human Rights. His efforts were instrumental in achieving the desegregation of Atlanta and he actively promoted the education of contemporary issues related to racism and the civil rights movement. King passed away on March 5, 2019.
