Lojze Funkl was a Slovenian forestry engineer born on May 9, 1907, in Griže, Žalec. He graduated in 1931 from the forestry department of the Agricultural and Forestry Faculty in Zagreb. Funkl worked in various forestry administrative roles and significantly contributed to modern forestry development in Slovenia. He was instrumental in the 1953 Forestry Law and established several forestry institutions, including the Forestry Institute in Ljubljana. He served as a senior lecturer in forestry economics at the Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana from 1967 to 1977.
