Livia Bitton-Jackson (1931–2023) was a Holocaust survivor and author, born Elli L. Friedmann in Czechoslovakia. At age 13, she was taken to Ghetto Nagymagyar and then Auschwitz, where she endured tremendous hardship before being liberated in 1945. After immigrating to New York in 1951, she earned a Ph.D. in Hebrew Culture and Jewish History and taught at CUNY for 37 years. She published several works, with her memoir 'I Have Lived a Thousand Years' gaining notable recognition.
