Lis Mellemgaard, born Liss Wognsen on February 20, 1924, in Copenhagen, was a Danish ophthalmologist and a freedom fighter. She contributed significantly to her field and is remembered for her courageous efforts in promoting freedom during her lifetime. Mellemgaard's legacy includes her work in medicine as well as her activism during critical historical moments in Denmark. She passed away on July 5, 2019.
