Leslie William Mapson was an English biochemist born on November 17, 1907, in Cambridge, who made significant contributions to the understanding of the biosynthesis of Vitamin C in plants and animals, as well as its role in photosynthesis as an antioxidant. After completing his studies in pharmacy and biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, he worked in the whaling industry and earned his PhD in 1936. Mapson served as a lecturer and held prominent positions in various research institutions before his death on December 3, 1970.
