Les Besser is an American electronics engineer born in 1936, recognized for his expertise in microwave technology. He founded Compact Software, which developed the COMPACT program, a successful microwave CAD tool. Originally from Hungary, Besser emigrated to the West in 1956, becoming a U.S. citizen in 2000 after living in Canada. His career includes significant contributions while working at Hewlett-Packard and Fairchild Semiconductor. He authored textbooks and has received multiple international accolades. Besser retired in 2004 but remains active in education and was the editorial director of Microwave Systems News.
