Leroy F. Aarons was an American journalist and playwright born on December 8, 1933, in the Bronx, New York. He was a pioneer in LGBTQ+ journalism, founding the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. Aarons served as a lieutenant in the Navy and later pursued a career in journalism, covering significant events like the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, and the Watergate scandal. He was also a founding member of the Robert Maynard Institute for Journalism Education. Aarons passed away on December 28, 2004.
