Leoš Firkušný was a Czech musicologist born on July 16, 1905, in Napajedla and died on July 9, 1950, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was the older brother of the world-famous piano virtuoso Rudolf Firkušný. Firkušný was an expert on Leoš Janáček and contributed significantly to promoting Janáček's music abroad. He was also one of the founders of the international festival Pražské jaro, which plays a vital role in the classical music scene in the Czech Republic.
