Léo Cohn was a prominent leader among the Éclaireurs israélites de France, born on October 15, 1913, in Lübeck, Germany. He enlisted in the French Foreign Legion in 1939. During the Occupation, he focused on religious education and rescuing Jewish children. Cohn was deported in July 1944 from Drancy to Auschwitz, then to Echterdingen, Germany. He tragically died from exhaustion on December 28, 1944, at age 31.
