At just 17, she signed her first contract with Polar Recordings in 1971. Andersson gained notable recognition when Benny and Björn, members of the famous Swedish pop group ABBA, wrote a song for her that placed third in the Swedish Eurovision competition in 1972. She was also selected as a backing vocalist for the group at that time.
