Lauri Ilmari Pakkala was a Finnish writer born on November 3, 1924, in Jalasjärvi and passed away on July 12, 1967, in Ilmajoki. He also used the pseudonym Eljas Raesalo. His notable works include the debut novel 'Ei miestä väkevämpää' (1959), a critical take on alcoholism, and 'Pikitie' (1963), which explores generational differences in a rural Finnish community facing modernization. His last novel, 'Miehen leipä' (1965), deals with themes of work and personal struggle. He was a founding member of Pohjanmaan Kirjailijat ry in 1962.
