Laurence Bond was a British pole vaulter born on December 31, 1905, in Marylebone. He competed in the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, finishing tenth. On August 2, 1930, Bond set a national record of 3.85 meters in London, which stood for six years. He also placed fifth at the British Empire Games in Hamilton the same year. Bond's athletic career was cut short when he died on December 1, 1943, in Southend-on-Sea due to complications from an appendectomy.
