Laura Wells is an American political activist and perennial candidate born on January 2, 1948. She has run for various political positions, including U.S. Representative for California's 13th congressional district in 2018 and the Green Party's candidate for California governor in 2010. Wells advocates for reforms to Proposition 13 and the voting rules in the Sacramento legislature. In 2002, she received nearly half a million votes in her bid for California state controller. Notably, she was arrested while trying to attend a gubernatorial debate that excluded third-party candidates.
