Lars Reinhold Schmidt (1917-2009) was a prominent Swedish theatrical producer, director, and publisher known for significantly influencing European theatre. He owned theaters in Paris and Sweden and played a key role in introducing American plays to European audiences. Notable productions include adaptations of 'A Street Car Named Desire' and 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof'. Schmidt was recognized as Europe's leading theatrical producer in a 1964 Life magazine article. He was married to actress Ingrid Bergman, a three-time Academy Award winner, in December 1958.
