Lars Mehlum is a Norwegian psychiatrist and professor of psychiatry and suicidology at the University of Oslo. He is the director of the National Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention. Mehlum has held numerous leadership positions in both Norwegian and international organizations, including president of the International Association for Suicide Prevention and the European Society for the Study of Personality Disorders. He has also contributed significantly to the development of new treatment methods for individuals at risk of suicide, including dialectical behavior therapy.
