Lakshman Senewiratne, born on March 9, 1957, is a prominent Sri Lankan politician. He has served as the former State Minister of Science, Technology and Research and is a member of the Parliament representing the Badulla District. His political career began after winning a by-election in 1985 for Mahiyangana, following the death of his father, C.P.J. Senewiratne, who was also a politician. Lakshman has since been elected for Badulla in multiple elections, becoming a significant figure in Sri Lankan politics over the past 32 years.
