L. Hugh Newman was a British entomologist and prominent author, known for his works on insects, particularly butterflies and moths. He was also a broadcaster who contributed to BBC Radio's 'Nature Parliament' during the 1950s alongside Peter Scott and James Fisher. Inheriting a butterfly farm in Kent from his father, Newman supplied butterflies to notable figures, including Winston Churchill for his residence. A selection of his entomological photographs is preserved at the Natural History Museum in London, highlighting his contributions to the field of entomology.
