L. Glenn Perry (1944-1998) was the first Chief Accountant of the SEC, appointed by Reagan in 1982. He led key investigations, notably against California's Financial Corp., revealing false financial reporting. His work highlighted the savings and loan crisis of the 1980s and he became a leading expert in financial disclosure fraud. Perry was previously a senior partner at KPMG, the youngest to achieve partnership at that time, and was involved with the American Institute of CPAs' Ethics Committee.
