Kyongae Chang is a South Korean astrophysicist born on September 5, 1946, in Seoul. She is best known for her contributions to gravitational lensing, particularly the Chang-Refsdal lens. Chang worked as a research associate in astrometry at the Sproul Observatory from 1969 to 1971. She pursued her doctoral studies at the University of Hamburg, focusing on the Chang-Refsdal lens, with her key findings published in Nature in 1979. She returned to South Korea in 1985 and became a professor at Cheongju University.
