Kynaston McShine was a Trinidadian curator and public speaker known for his significant contributions to contemporary art. He worked at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City from 1959 until 2008, during which time he became the first curator of color at a major American museum. His role evolved to chief curator at large of painting and sculpture upon his retirement. McShine's impactful visions and leadership greatly influenced the careers of many artists and colleagues within the art community.
