Kurt Meyer (December 23, 1910 – December 23, 1961) was an SS commander and war criminal from Nazi Germany. He served in the Waffen-SS and participated in key battles during World War II, including the Battle of France and Operation Barbarossa. As the commander of the 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend during the Allied invasion of Normandy, Meyer was involved in the massacre of prisoners. He was convicted of war crimes but later released from prison. After his release, he became a prominent apologist for the Waffen-SS and was active in HIAG, attempting to portray the division in a favorable light.
