Kurt Ludewig is a German-Chilean psychologist and systemic psychotherapist, born on December 6, 1942, in Valparaíso, Chile. He significantly contributed to the theory and dissemination of systemic therapy in the German-speaking world. In the 1980s, he translated a version of 'El árbol del conocimiento' (Lectures) by Humberto R. Maturana and Francisco J. Varela into German. Ludewig is regarded as the founder of the concept of membership and the inventor of the family board, which visually represents familial and other social relationships using wooden figures.
