Kurt Cobain (1967–1994) was an American singer and songwriter of the band Nirvana, known for developing a new rock music style called grunge, which became especially popular in the early 1990s. He is often described as the voice of Generation X. Cobain was married to singer-actress Courtney Love and tragically died by suicide at the age of 27 in 1994.
