Major General Kulwant Singh Pannu was an esteemed officer in the Indian Army and recipient of the Maha Vir Chakra, known for his leadership in the Tangail Airdrop during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Commissioned in 1952 with the 3 Gorkha Rifles, he joined the Parachute Regiment in 1957. Pannu commanded 2 Para in an operation on December 11, 1971, to cut off a retreating Pakistani brigade, demonstrating exceptional bravery and strategic skill, which earned him one of the highest military honors in India.
