Krzysztof J. Malkiewicz, also known as Kris Malkiewicz, is a Polish and American filmmaker, cinematographer, and educator born on February 22, 1931, in Kraków. He studied film at the National Film School in Łódź and earned degrees in ethnography and art history from the Jagiellonian University. He taught at the California Institute of the Arts from its inception in 1968 until retirement in 2007, and authored the influential cinematography textbook 'Cinematography' in 1973. Malkiewicz specializes in personal documentaries and has served as a jury member at various film festivals.
