Kōji Sakurai is a former Japanese triple jumper born on February 18, 1936, in Tokyo. He achieved notable placements including seventh at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics and won silver medals at the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo and the 1959 Universiade in Turin. Sakurai did not advance beyond the qualification round at the 1960 Rome Olympics and reached success with a victory at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta. He also participated in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and was a national champion in 1960 and 1962, boasting a personal best of 16.18 m achieved in 1963.
