Kōji Kojima was a prominent Japanese Olympic volleyball coach who led the women's team to a silver medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. He took over as coach in 1970, succeeding Hirobumi Daimatsu. Despite being favored for gold in 1980, Japan boycotted the Moscow Games. Later, he served as the general director for Japanese athletes at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Kōji Kojima passed away on May 27, 2014, at the age of 83 from pneumonia.
