Koichi 'Nishi' Nishimura is a Japanese beach volleyball player born on June 30, 1973, in Kyoto, Japan. He began his career as an indoor volleyball player serving as Libero for the Japanese National Team before switching to beach volleyball in 2002. He currently plays for the Winds beach volleyball team and founded the environmental non-profit organization 'Save the Beach' in 2009. Nishimura achieved fourth place at the 2006 Asian Games and married fellow volleyball player Kaoru Sugayama in 2011.
