Kofi Atta Annan was a Ghanaian diplomat who served as the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations from January 1, 1997, to December 31, 2006. He was instrumental in various global issues and is noted for his efforts in promoting peace and development. In recognition of his and the UN's work, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001. Annan was born on April 8, 1938, and passed away on August 18, 2018.
