Knud Gether is a Danish politician born on December 8, 1946, in Frederiksberg. He served as the mayor of Langeland Municipality from 2006 to 2009, elected for the Citizen List of Langeland. A trained marine engineer, he has worked for various companies and started a maritime school. He began his political career in Venstre party in 1966, became an independent councillor in 1991, and later won the mayoral position in 1993. Gether was reelected in subsequent municipal elections and became the first mayor of the merged Langeland Municipality.
