Knocky Parker, born John William Parker II on August 8, 1918, was a renowned American jazz pianist known for his contributions to ragtime and Dixieland jazz. He began his career in the 1930s playing with Western Swing bands and served in the military during World War II. Post-war, he collaborated with notable musicians and earned a doctorate in English, teaching at various colleges. He recorded all of Scott Joplin's rags in the early 1960s and produced a variety of recordings for different labels.
