Klaus Pförtner was a German-born Argentine optician and entrepreneur who was a pioneer in contact lens manufacturing and adaptation in Argentina. He co-founded the Argentine Society of Contactology and served as its president twice. Pförtner conducted the world's first pediatric application of contact lenses in infants who underwent surgery for congenital cataracts. His work was co-authored with Dr. Edgardo Manzitti and presented to the Argentine Society of Ophthalmology. His contributions were recognized through various awards and honors throughout his career.
